Donors

As a certified Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Islamic School Foundation is authorized to offer individuals and businesses Oklahoma state tax credits equal to fifty percent (50%) to seventy-five percent (75%) of the amount donated in order to secure the funding necessary to award scholarships to income-eligible students attending private schools for grades PreK-12. Because we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, donations are also eligible for a federal tax deduction and state tax deduction.

You have two options for donating:

  • Print the Oklahoma Private School Opportunity Scholarship Donation Form, complete it and mail it to us along with a check made out to Oklahoma Islamic School foundation.
  • Donate Online through Facebook using the Donate button on facebook.com/OISFkids. Donate using Paypal on our Donate Now page.

Future plan is to offer the opportunity to donate just about anything… vehicles, jewelry, electronics and even commodities.

More Information on the Tax Credits:

Some parameters of the scholarship program are dictated by the requirements of the Oklahoma Equal Opportunity Education Scholarship Act, 68 Okla. Statutes Section 2357.206. Please refer to the Scholarship Act for specific information.

  • You should be aware that the Oklahoma legislature allocated a total of $25 million dollars in annual tax credits to the Scholarship Act. Therefore, if an abundance of people donates to scholarship granting organizations, the actual tax credit awarded to each individual contributor may decline from the maximum of 50% (75%) to some lesser percentage, but all contributors will receive the same percentage of tax credit.
  • Your donation may be restricted to scholarships for students attending one of our participating schools.
  • There is a CAP on the amount of tax credits a donor can secure:
    • $1,000.00 for a single taxpayer
    • $2,000.00 for a married taxpayer
    • $100,000.00 for a corporation.
  • The tax credit can be applied toward your Oklahoma income tax liability (it may not be refunded or applied to a tax liability from a prior year).
  • If after filing your Oklahoma Tax Return you possess unused school scholarship tax credits, you may carry these forward to be applied to subsequent annual filings for up to three (3) years.
  • Oklahoma Islamic School Foundation will attempt to honor requests from donors to designate funds to specific Islamic schools, but may deviate if necessary to remain true to the primary mission of the organization, which is to provide Islamic school scholarships to students most in need of financial assistance, or to meet certain statutory requirements.
  • You should consult your personal financial or tax advisor for specific tax advice.
